Sweet Transit Early Access First Impression

Sweet Transit, currently in Early Access, is a transportation-focused supply management simulator from solo developer Ernestas Norvaišas. In the game, you build a thriving, interconnected world of villages and cities from a single warehouse as you expand your rail network and evolve your society.

Sweet Transit Game Impressions

I have spent 10 hours with the game at the time of writing, which, if you know me, is more than I can usually put into a first impressions post. Sweet Transit hooked me right away. I highly advise playing through the tutorials before beginning your first game.

When you create a new game, the map generator is a bit rough, but playing around with the settings will help you build a map that works for new players. I would love to see a difficulty option for maps. All games start the same – build your warehouse. establish your town, and begin collecting resources. The critical thing to remember when playing is that the map sets the difficulty.

What I Enjoyed

  • Track building. The track-building process is clean, and you can tell it is the primary focus.
  • Signals. After playing the tutorial for signals, I just wanted a mini-game/puzzler around this feature.
  • Route Management. Color coding trains is something I didn’t know I wanted.
  • The Soundtrack. It fits the game wonderfully.

What needs work

  • The UI is rough around the edges. I found myself opening the wrong building menu often.
  • Buildings need better identifications. The town is bland.
  • Resources – especially the sawmill – need tuning.

Despite some apparent Early Access issues, Sweet Transit is a great pickup. If nothing else were added to the game, it would remain a must-play for me.
