Battle for Azeroth predictions, speculations, and where I stand

Talk of the next Warcraft expansion began in the summer, even before the launch of Tomb of Sargeras. Recently, it has taken on a life of its own post-BlizzCon and with the recent information found on Allied Races on the 7.3.5 PTR. I have been making some wild claims on Twitter since early July regarding the new expansion. The time has finally come to centralize those thoughts (and tweets) to see where I stand.

Just Start! A look back at 30 straight days on Twitch

When I originally began the Minimalist Gamer idea in February, one of the criteria I set was Be Streamable. Until recently, this was the only item I was not living up to with the project. Adjusting to life with an infant did change my gaming habits. Spending most of my day carrying Devlin meant certain games (Overwatch) were not able to be played. This should not have stopped me from fulfilling the streaming portion, but, for some reason it did.

In September, I decided to commit to Twitch.

So, now what? Warcraft for a fresh 110

On Monday, I shared how to streamline the leveling process post 7.2.5. This post was written before the news of 7.3 catch-up mechanics and remains relevant until it is released.

Congratulations on hitting 110! Now, what?

At this moment you’ve either just finished or in the middle of completing a Legion assault. Before you do anything else, learn Artifact Knowledge rank 40 (AK40). If you have not already sent a tome from your main to the alt which just dinged, log out and do this now.

Once you’ve learned AK40, it is time to proceed with the rest of the process.

Why I play

Recently, while streaming Warcraft, I was asked a relatively straightforward question:

“How do you still play this game?”

Aside from the obvious answer “I log in,” I was a bit dumbfounded. I had never been asked about my allegiance to World of Warcraft over other Blizzard Games or even other video games in general. The thought of why I still played or cared about an over 12-year-old game, hadn’t crossed my mind. It took me a moment to process, and then it hit me – playing Warcraft pays the bills.

And then there was one: A new direction for Warcraft Minimalism

I have hit a roadblock with the Warcraft Minimalism project. The plan I laid out for this patch is not working. Flying has made everything easier and, in turn, feels as if I should be doing it all. I know this is not the case, but I am struggling. I called Patch 7.2 the first true test and I even though I praised flying last week, something’s not quite right. A new direction is needed.

The first true test for minimalism in Azeroth

It’s patch day for Azeroth. Later today, when servers come back online, patch 7.2 – The Tomb of Sargeras –  will be live in North America. In the past, this day meant a mad rush to get going on all the latest things. Log in to all of my characters. Start working on every new bit of content. But, not this time.  This time I have to be intentional. Today is also a patch day of sorts for Warcraft minimalism.

5 add-ons for effective alt management in Warcraft

On Sunday night I finished the alt leveling. The plan I laid out was completed much quicker than I had anticipated. With 7.2 on the horizon, proper alt management becomes crucial.  When the new patch hits I will be switching back to the Hunter full time. Knowing the best way to maximize my time on my alts will make for a much more enjoyable and efficient experience.

The following five add-ons are how I keep tabs on my new roster of 110s.

Lazy Sunday Morning Links Vol.7

Another Sunday. Another group of links. Gonna keep this short and sweet this morning because I have three levels to get through on the Paladin today to have the leveling plan complete. I am excited to move on to new plans in preparation for 7.2. Watch out for more in blog posts this week.

Let’s dive into the links, shall we?

A moment of reflection on a Warcraft expansion

We are now 28 weeks into the latest Warcraft expansion. While I’ve always defended Legion as the best Team 2 has released, I never really understood why I said it. Yes, there is a lot of content. Yes, players are engaged. And yes, Azeroth feels alive again. But, none of this made me log in every day.  It wasn’t until I began to level my alts where I discovered how good we have it in this expansion.
