Stop Trying To Make Fetch Happen

I lost my way when it comes to creating things for video. TikTok, Reels, and YouTube have all distracted me from what I enjoy creating – 300-word blog posts.

The pace of YouTube content I made in June was too much. I can’t keep that up. My goal was a video a week. I ended up with 14 streams, five videos, and eight shorts. It is too much. With my office in shambles due to a home renovation project, the downtime allows me to evaluate much of what I have been doing around gaming, content, and how I want to show up on the internet.

I am old. I have been doing this internet thing for too long. Everything is too fractured, and I am tired. I am settling on some changes and will go with what is easy. My time is limited. I need to respect this limitation.

Blogging returns because I prefer words. YouTube content (at a greatly reduced schedule) is on a break until my office situation is resolved in August. My social media presence is Mastodon and Instagram.

This is it. It is all I can do right now. It is time to stop trying to be everywhere and do a few things to the best of my ability.

House Flipper 2 Demo Gameplay

It is Steam Next Fest, and thanks to Frozen District, I had the chance to play the House Flipper 2 Demo early. Check out the video below for my first look impressions of the game.

Everything in Flux

Hi. I am attempting to restart content creation.

My desire to create things is high, but my focus remains scattered. The choice of what to play and the types of videos to create remains uncertain. The games I have played in the past and what I became “known for” (I use this loosely) are MMOs which I don’t have much time to play.

Do I go back to making short Let’s Play videos?

Record playthroughs?

Do simple reaction videos?

Finding the time to do any of it properly is so tricky. I do not do it for money, so I can not sink too many resources into the endeavor. I have been a sucker for the sunk cost fallacy before. I need to be mindful of this with any decision.

There is a way forward, and maybe I need to give myself a challenge as motivation. Something simple to test the muscles. Perhaps I will start with a YouTube video a week in June.

Hold me accountable, ok?

Deal.

TerraScape | New Puzzle City Builder

TerraScape is a puzzle game, city builder, and card game all rolled into one. It is like Islanders and Dorfromantik merged into a single game. While it sounds like a lot, it works extremely well.

Bitfall Studios, the developer of the game, asks, “Ever wanted a board game to come to life?”. They are not joking. With the option for single or multiplayer, it feels this way, even in early access. A detailed roadmap of development adds to the value of this game. It is a great gaming experience already, with lots to look forward to in the future.

TerraScape is a special one. The game is available on Steam right now, and check out the video below for gameplay.
