Blogging forces clarity. It makes you structure your thoughts, sharpen your perspective. You stop writing fluff because — let’s be honest — you’re writing for yourself. And if you can’t keep yourself interested, nobody else stands a chance.

How it once was

I have been thinking a lot about the internet from 2005. Some of it is for nostalgia. Much of it is “how did we get here?”

However, the biggest driving factor is how I am tired with what we have now. I long to return to something that feels more in line with my preferred internet experience from years ago.

Once upon a time…

This space was once a personal blog. It was where I dumped thoughts, goings-on, things I loved, and the mundane things from my day-to-day. Since then, I have tried several things, whether minimalism, parenting, or attempting to be a video game news site. This blog has had many reinventions.

Perhaps it is time to return to the roots.

Sharing on social media has become less appealing over the past four months. I have left most of the platforms I once called “home.” I do not regret the decision, but it has left me without an outlet for sharing my thoughts in the detail I want to give them.

It is time to write about what I care about in a space I control. Welcome back, personal blog. I missed you. I’ll see you again soon.

Try Something New

In the past, when I’ve had 10 or 15 minutes of downtime, the habit was to grab my phone and play a game or two during this time. Or perhaps I would scroll social media aimlessly, and the break time would disappear. It wasn’t for a dopamine hit or to see what was happening. It was mainly out of habit, and I was not sure what else I could do in the window of time. So it’s overdue that I try something new with those 10 to 15-minute breaks. They are always going to be present in my day. But instead of opening Threads or a mobile game, I’ll work to make it writing time.

I need to build new habits to get where I want to be.
